Who Doesn't Love Mango?

I grew up eating mangos from my backyard...

As I told you before in one of my blogs, I grew up in the countryside in a small town called Mayarí in Santiago de Cuba. What was great about growing up there were all the mango trees around my grandparent's house. There was one small mango tree behind the kitchen window with huge mangos. I think it was called Mango Piña and when it was ready to eat, it would turn the darkest red, almost purple. It was so delicious and so big that one person couldn't eat one alone. There was another mango tree in the backyard, that one was a Mango Biscochuelo.
One of the most popular in Cuba. There is even a traditional song talking about this kind of mango... "Tiene sabor a Caney, a mango de biscochuelo, suena como el arrochuelo que pasa por mi batey..."

I remember that during the summer months my grandpa used to bring a potato sack filled with Mango Toledo, my favorite, and we'd fill a bucket with water and washbowl with mangos and would sit in the front porch around late afternoon to eat them. I don't know how many I used to eat but since they are small little mangos, I would eat until I was full. So delicious! I talk about the summer because that's when mangos are in season and every time I go back home, during the winter months my mom has saved some in the freezer for me. Well, you know, there is a Mango tree also in my mother's backyard. She also makes delicious Mango marmalade which I get to bring with me back to Nashville and enjoy it for a little longer.

Accessible Travel
It's always my goal to improve my knowledge about the travel industry and to make sure that I have all the tools available for you. Although it's a bit difficult to move around in Cuba for people with special needs, it never hurts to be prepared. Last month at the ASTA Global Convention we took a class about Accessible Travel with the Special Needs Group company, and we have successfully completed the Certification requirements for becoming certified. So, we have received the SNG Certified Accessible Travel Advocate certificate. Whether you are planning a cruise, a tour to Cuba or around the world, we can accommodate your needs.

World Travel
We have a new partnership with Firebird Tours for vacations to Europe and beyond. Why Firebird Tours? They are different. They book the best hotels in the heart of each city and arrange your trip so that you travel with the most comfortable modes of transport. In Europe, these are usually trains or private drivers. With this partnership, you have a choice of going on a private tour or with a small group. Our small group tour is not a bus tour. It is more like a private tour where few people share a guide during a day program. Our private tours are just as good as the most expensive luxury tours, only better - they cost half the price. We'll have a special section here on our site for World Travel soon.
