I have been to Italy five times, and my first time was not a great experience when I arrived at the airport. Still, the second time, I spent three full days exploring every single corner of the city, and I walked until my shoes broke down, and I had to stop and buy a new pair to continue walking that night. I loved my experience so much that I keep returning to this country full of history and lots to explore. In today's blog, I want to share the article "When in Rome" by Margarita Hirapetian, which can be found in our July Travel Magazine issue.
Hotel de Russie welcomes you with open, elegant arms for discerning travelers seeking the best of Italian hospitality. This five-star luxury hotel in the heart of Rome strikes an arresting balance between historical grandeur and contemporary elegance, combining keen artistic touches, a glorious secret garden, and impeccable service to remarkable effect. Famed for its distinctive character and superior service, this iconic Hotel has long symbolized the Eternal City's glamorous and timeless appeal. Legends like Pablo Picasso and Jean Cocteau have been among the illustrious guests to enjoy Hotel de Russie's hospitality, and now you can join their ranks.
You'll enter a gleaming gem when you set foot into Hotel de Russie. The Rocco Forte Hotels' crown jewel has been sprucing up its illustrious rooms, with the Nijinsky suite recently unveiling a presidential polish in May. The refurbishment party started in 2020 by restoring Giuseppe Valadier's original garden masterpiece. Continuing into 2022 and 2023, the newly refurbished rooms and suites play off the heritage and vibrancy of Rome. So, whether you're here for a Roman holiday or a lengthy sojourn, expect la dolce vita with a dash of flamboyant modernity at the new and improved Hotel de Russie. Hotel de Russie is ideally located between Piazza del Popolo and the Spanish steps, perfect whether you're a history buff, a shopaholic, or an enthusiast of breathtaking views. The Piazza boasts many fascinating cultural landmarks, including an ancient gate to the city, the Basilica of Santa Maria del Popolo, and an ancient Egyptian obelisk. The Spanish Steps are one of the best-known landmarks in Rome and often the site of performances, a meeting place for creatives, couples, and pilgrims, and a popular place for locals and visitors alike to experience the rousing energy of the city. During your stay at Hotel de Russie, take advantage of its prime location and immerse yourself in Rome's legendary attractions. Picture yourself walking through the doors of a Hotel de Russie suite – a realm of elegance and grandeur that gives 'room with a view' a whole new meaning. Here, Rome lays herself bare with awe-inspiring vistas of the Eternal City and the Hotel's secret garden, stealing the show from your window. And the suites? More generous in size than an Italian nonna's lasagna portion (and that's really saying something). Elegance flirts with boldness in every corner, from the plush velvet couches to the contemporary furnishings, making each room an ode to modern luxury with a classic twist. The Valadier Suite with its floor-to-ceiling windows, the Popolo Suite with a stunning wraparound terrace that overlooks the historic Piazza del Popolo, the elegant Picasso Suite with homages to the artist, the redesigned Nijinsky Suite, a masterpiece of luxury boasting expansive indoor and outdoor living spaces – they all patiently await your arrival. The Hotel de Russie is known to locals as the place to be (it doesn't hurt that film stars and fashion models tend to stay here). The Stravinskij Bar, where you can lounge in your corner of the Piazza, is often patronized by chic Romans who stop by to enjoy an aperitivo. The Stravinskij Spritz is especially renowned, and after 6pm, all drinks come with a complimentary bowl of Sicilian olives, mini hamburgers, roasted almonds, and potato chips. Regularly regarded as one of Rome's most beautiful bars, the Stravinskij is surrounded by lush gardens with towering poplar trees that will make you feel like you've been dropped into your very own Garden of Eden.
