Rocky to the Red Rocks

Have you been to the red rocks yet? Well, I was just there. I have been planning this trip since April this year, so I could learn more about the new route of Rocky Mountaineer. It's different to study a company's itinerary and what they offer; the other is traveling with them. I was so excited to get on the train last August, but two days before departure, I got sick with covid and had to change my travel plans for October.

I was lucky that the train still had availability for the last train ride from Denver to Moab of the season. However, my travel companion could not go because of work reasons. So, I ventured out by myself.

This train is just plain beautiful and comfortable. The seats recline, the tray table is big enough to hold your laptop, and more. The legroom is three times the size of the space on first-class seats on a plane, and the windows are enormous with almost 360 degrees views. Moreover, the windows were squeaky clean, so all your photos and videos were nice and clear. The service was impeccable, and the crew ensured you had a great time. The team onboard my car was very knowledgeable and told stories about the railroad workers and towns we passed through while serving us drinks and food. They also made sure to point out the wildlife along the way and specific spots that were great for photos. I wanted to take as many photos and videos as possible but also enjoy the scenery. It was spectacular.

This is not a train ride that you get on to be in a hurry to get where you are going. This is a train ride to enjoy the moment and the most incredible mountains, valleys, and colorful environment. We even got snowed in when getting closer to Glenwood Springs, Colorado. If you have yet to go to these two states, you should because you don't know what you are missing out on. Rocky to the Red Rocks, truly delivers an itinerary worth your time.

Once we arrived at the enchanting town of Glenwood Springs, everyone got their hotel room key before getting off the train. There were two hotels for the overnight stay, and mine was just up the steps from the platform. The Denver Hotel was very quaint and cozy. When I opened the door to my hotel room, my luggage was already there! I loved that kind of service. I didn't go out that night to check out the town because I had work to do, but you must definitely check out this place. The following day, the train departed at 7am, and the crew had some warm coffee waiting for us at the platform. Once the train took off, the staff served us again with more coffee, juices, tea, or any drink we would like to have, followed by a delicious breakfast. They served us one more light snack before we got off the train in Moab. You can also do a roundtrip journey but after spending a few days in Moab because there is so much to do there as well. Definitely, Rocky to the Red Rocks will leave you in awe.

Would you be interested in doing this kind of journey? Make sure you contact me to book your ride for next season. It will start in May and run until the third week of October.
