I recently had the opportunity to take a trip to Costa Rica and had an absolutely fantastic time. I stayed at three different hotels, each with its own unique charm and character.
My first stop was Hotel Presidente in San Jose. This hotel is located in the heart of the city and is the perfect place to base yourself if you're looking to explore all that San Jose has to offer. The hotel has an eclectic lobby decoration, a meeting room for guests, breakfast included, and a rooftop bar with stunning city views.
From San Jose, I headed to Santa Teresa, a small beach town on the Nicoya Peninsula. I stayed at Nantipa, a charming luxury resort with a relaxed atmosphere. The hotel is located right on the beach, and it's the perfect place to relax and enjoy the sun and sand. Nantipa also has an excellent restaurant on the beach with delicious food. Each villa has several amenities, very spacious and super comfortable beds. The clean and soothing smell in the rooms makes you feel at peace. The villas also have an outdoor shower, so you can rinse the sand off before entering your indoor shower from outside. I loved seeing the very traditional coffee maker in each room. You can enjoy your day at the pool, the beach, or the spa!
My last stop was Tabacón Thermal Resort & Spa. This resort is located in the rainforest and is the perfect place to rejuvenate and relax. The resort has a variety of thermal pools, a spa, and a fitness center. I was given a tour of the facilities and was very impressed by the honeymoon suites' private thermal pool overlooking the rainforest and the volcano. The resort also has family rooms for up to six guests, with connecting rooms available upon request. All the rooms have beautiful amenities, including a robe to use to go to the thermal facilities, which is just a 5-minute walk from the hotel, but you can also use their shuttle service to bring you back and forth. The resort water generally comes from the thermal river, and when using the shower, you have to let it run for a while to get the natural hot water from the thermal rivers. In addition to exploring the three hotels, I also took two excursions. The first excursion was to the Doka coffee plantations, the Poás Volcano, and the La Paz Conservatory. This was a full-day excursion, and it was a great way to learn about Costa Rica's coffee production and see some of the country's natural beauty.
The second excursion was to the Arenal National Park. This was a half-day excursion and a great way to see the Arenal Volcano and exp erience the rainforest.
The visit to each resort partner was short but very welcoming and inspiring. I could see much more of Costa Rica this time because I chose to do road trips to transfer from one resort to the next, and I am so glad I did. I had an incredible time in Costa Rica and would recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful and exciting vacation destination. Kontiki Expeditions offers a boutique cruise and the concept of conscious tourism beyond coastal Ecuador to exceptional destinations in the Americas is the premiere of a new expedition on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. Costa Rica’s Pacific coast boasts wildlife on land and sea, featuring lush tropical forests bounded by the sea, an intense concentration of biodiversity, and adventure-filled excursions, which are the perfect recipe for an unforgettable escape.
Kontiki Wayra, a luxury 128-foot-long boutique yacht, has only nine staterooms and a maximum capacity of 18 people. 13 experienced crew members lead the programs and are committed to providing prime service for an unforgettable stay. Onboard, naturalist
guides, a concierge, local chefs, and the crew add to the distinctive Kontiki experience that will let you discover the Costa Rica region as no one has ever before. It also includes entertainment areas such as a sundeck for alfresco meals, a gourmet salon with panoramic views, two outdoor lounges, an organic bar, a jacuzzi, and a gym and fitness area. All three destinations offer adventurers a lot, from hiking the rainforest to ziplining, surfing, scuba diving, or fishing.
