I Genuinely Believe That You Should Visit Iceland!

Last year when I went to the Signature Travel Network business conference, my fellow travel advisors convinced me to go on a night adventure at the FlyOver flying adventure center.
I didn’t want to go because I was entirely sure it would be like riding a roller coaster and they said no, no, it’s not that bad. I didn’t know what I was in for. When we entered the building, it was all dark, and they had this round hole with images of the universe and went on to tell earth stories, and how we got here. That part was excellent.  Once that was over, they took us to our seats, and we were strapped in. I knew then that it was going to be like a roller coaster. My heart is pumping so fast now as I write this because it just brings back the same feelings and emotions of that night. I was frightened and could not breathe, but my friend grabbed my hand and kept trying to keep me calm.

The enormous white screen started showcasing gorgeous images of Iceland. It’s valleys, mountains, rivers, snowcaps, and a beautiful town. It was just like being there, but still, I was scared. The motions were fast when going down through the picks of the mountains and slow when flying over valleys. No matter how I felt at that moment, I genuinely believe that you all should visit Iceland.
There are no words to describe how gorgeous it is even though I have not been there physically, but I felt like I was when I did the FlyOver experience.  However, the one person who can tell you more about Iceland is Ignacio Maza who was there and has written about the beautiful hotel REYKJAVIK EDITION, Iceland.

Ignacio recently visited Reykjavik, and stayed at the Reykjavik Edition hotel. This new luxury hotel opened in October of 2021 and is by far the premier, five-star, full-service luxury hotel in Reykjavik. Here are his notes & key points for this hotel, which he wanted to share with you:

  • Location, Location, location. Reykjavik Edition has THE premier setting, in the city center's  old harbor and facing the emblematic Harpa Concert Hall. The main shopping streets and major sites in Reykjavik (Hallsgrimskirkja church, museums, landmarks, etc.) are all within walking distance.
  • Comfortable, well-appointed guestrooms. Reykjavik Edition has 253 guestrooms, including 27 suites in various configurations. Guestrooms are very spacious and start at 280 sq. ft., with large bathrooms. Suites in the upper categories - particularly Superior, Premier, Loft suites and the large Penthouse Suite on the 6th floor - all have private terraces. Decor is modern & pared down, featuring contemporary Icelandic design. The most requested room types: the suites, and guest rooms facing the harbor and Harpa Hall.

  • Unmatched facilities in the city. The hotel has a large spa/wellness complex in the lower level, including a well-equipped gym, and a spa, complete with treatment rooms, thermal plunge pool, steam room, hammam, and sauna.
  • Dining & drinking options. Reykjavik Edition offers all-day dining by Michelin-star chef Gunnar Karl Gislason in its Tide restaurant - one of the most sought-after tables in Reykjavik. In addition, guests can visit the Tides Cafe (next door to the restaurant), for casual fare. There are three bar options on property - the Lobby Bar (busy all day), the intimate Tolt bar on the lobby level, and the new rooftop lounge on the 7th floor.
  • Service. Everyone on property is very service-oriented. I was impressed with the staff, especially in the dining room. The concierges are knowledgeable and very helpful.
  • Signature Hotel Partner value. Signature guests receive valuable privileges during their stay, including breakfast for two daily, a $100 USD dining credit, and a welcome amenity. If available, guests receive an upgrade, late checkout/early check-in.
  • My #1 shopping tip: My favorite store in Iceland is 66 North, the country's top outdoor outfitter for over 50 years. 66 North gear is superb, long-lasting, and designed for Iceland's inclement weather. The company just opened a new store, opposite Reykjavik Edition. A MUST stop during your stay!
With  such an amazing place to stay in Iceland, who wouldn't want to go and explore this incredible destination? Should you be interested in an adventure of a lifetime, give me a call to curate an Iceland getaway!
