I was born in Santiago de Cuba. I left 25 years ago, but my family didn’t. Every year, I return to Havana with a suitcase full of what they can’t buy: medicine, water filters, rechargeable lights. This September, I’m booking Casa Juan — our favorite rental — for 10 friends who want to see Cuba as a family, not as tourists.
This is not a tour. This is personal:

This September, I’m booking Casa Juan — our favorite rental — for 10 friends who want to see Cuba as a family, not as tourists.
This is not a tour. This is personal:
- We stay at Casa Juan — my favorite rental — and eat at Antojos and MarAdentro with Henry, my right-hand guide. No hotels. No buses.
- On Day 4, we carry your suitcase to the people who need it. We’ll visit the local farmers’ market together. You’ll see why powdered milk, aspirin, and food bags are currency here. You’ll meet the people who will use what you bring.
- In Viñales, you’ll eat at Finca Luis from the farmer’s land while he shows you how he rolls tobacco. Your solar light means his daughter does homework after dark.
- You sit with my tía while she shows you how she keeps insulin cold in a bucket during 12-hour blackouts. You’ll understand why “Support for the Cuban People” isn’t a visa category; it’s a responsibility.

- September 9–14, 2026 — 6 days. We fly Southwest together from Tampa.
- $3,599 single | $5,599 per couple — includes Casa Juan, bed and breakfast, 4 meals, private drivers, Viñales, visa, travel documents with full itinerary, and me.
- After you book, I’ll send the private donation list. Batteries go in your carry-on only.

- Power: 12–20 hours of blackouts daily. Food spoils. Medicine spoils.
- Food: One meal costs a month’s salary: eggs, rice, chicken — out of reach.
- Hospitals: No power = no X-rays, no oxygen. No medicine = no treatment.
- Your 50 lbs: Becomes a water filter for a baby, Tylenol for a fever, light for a student, tuna for a grandmother.

Why I'm going back and why i can't do this without you:
My mom is in Havana. Her health is poor.
She needs regular medical attention, but there’s no transportation during the blackouts. And even if she could get to the hospital, there’s no medicine waiting for her. No insulin. No antibiotics. No Tylenol.
I’m in Nashville. She’s there. And I can’t ship her what she needs.
That’s the part that keeps me up at night. I send money, but money can’t buy aspirin when the shelves are empty. I can’t fly her here. I can’t be there every day.
But I can do this:
Once a year, I fill a suitcase with the things that keep her alive — rechargeable lights so she isn’t alone in the dark, batteries so we can talk, medicine for her neighbors, water filters for the babies on her block.
One suitcase helps my mom. Ten suitcases help her whole street.
