Exploring the Caribbean at the ASTA Caribbean Showcase 2025

​The Caribbean is more than just turquoise waters and powdery white sands—it’s a vibrant region rich in culture, hospitality, and unforgettable experiences. I had the incredible opportunity to attend the ASTA Caribbean Showcase 2025 at Sandals South Coast in Jamaica, and I can’t wait to share the highlights with you.

Arrival in Jamaica
My journey began with an early morning flight and a warm Jamaican welcome.  Thanks to the MoBay Club pass, I breezed through customs with personalized assistance. After a scenic (and slightly bumpy!) bus ride through Jamaica’s winding roads, we arrived at Sandals South Coast, greeted with cool towels, music, and a refreshing welcome drink.

The Power of Travel Connections
The conference kicked off with inspiring discussions from tourism leaders representing Jamaica, St. Vincent, St. Lucia, and Grenada.  Guided by CBS News’ Peter Greenberg, the panel touched on important topics like sustainability, connectivity, supporting local communities, and the future of Caribbean tourism.

Our ASTA President, Zane Kerby, was honored for his leadership in strengthening partnerships that ensure travelers like you enjoy seamless and meaningful experiences across the islands.

A Celebration of Caribbean Partnerships
Throughout the sessions, we heard directly from key travel partners, including Virgin Voyages, Royal Caribbean, Scenic & Emerald Cruises, Discover Puerto Rico, Hyatt Hotels, and the Dominican Republic Tourism Board. Each one showcased what makes their destination or cruise experience unique and why the Caribbean remains a dream destination for every type of traveler.

From Barbados and Turks & Caicos to Curaçao and St. Kitts, the showcase brought together tourism boards, hoteliers, and cruise partners, all committed to creating unforgettable vacations.

Beyond the Conference
Of course, it wasn’t all business!  There were moments to unwind by the pool with a Bob Marley cocktail, explore different room categories (including an overwater bungalow!), and even try my hand at pickleball.  These experiences gave me firsthand knowledge to help my clients find the right Caribbean escape—whether it’s a romantic getaway, family vacation, or group celebration.

Negril Site Inspections & Farewell Celebration

On our final day, we journeyed to Negril for resort site inspections.  After a little detour (our driver initially took us the wrong way!), we arrived at the Couples Resort.  Greeted with mimosas and fresh towels, we explored this rustic yet charming property. With its budget-friendly accommodations, expansive sports complex, and gorgeous beach, Couples is a great choice for travelers seeking value without compromising on scenery.

Next, at Sandals Negril, we were welcomed with music and cooling towels before touring several luxurious rooms—including an oceanfront swim-up suite and a fourth-floor stunner with panoramic sea views.  What stood out most was that the very bed faces the ocean—so guests wake up to the Caribbean’s beauty every morning.  The beachfront wedding setup we saw was magical, giving couples a taste of what their big day could look like in paradise.

Then it was off to Beaches Negril, where Sesame Street characters and balloons made for a fun, family-friendly welcome (rain and all!)   After a buffet lunch, we toured an incredible 4-bedroom ocean-view suite that accommodates up to 14 guests—perfect for large families or groups of friends traveling together.

The day ended back at Sandals South Coast with a farewell dinner on the beach, featuring live music, cocktails, a delicious buffet, and dancing under the stars. It was the perfect ending to a week of learning, networking, and celebrating the Caribbean spirit.
